The mouth of the Yangtze River, China, the Gezhouba Dam . More recently, the Baiji was found only in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, between two large lakes, Dongting and Poyang.
The Yangtze River is one of the world's busiest waterways and has a lot of human activity. that has had a devastating effects to Baiji's. Illegal fishing using electricity has been blamed for 40 percent of known deaths. The Baiji have also become caught in fishing gear, and gear to keep water ways open. sometimes there are oil spills and pollution in the rivers and lakes. This is causing dolphins being strangled to death. Over fishing has led to Baijis not being able to eat enough.
They live within the Yangtze River. They particularly like when affluents meet especially if there are sand bars with a large current.
